The seductiveness of familiar addiction,
you're still savouring
the lingering taste of unnecessary.
This carbon monoxide
is filling my veins,
stealing my cleansing
for tar-clogged memories
of life, unscrubbable, as it was.
Precious,
you create a tired being...
With ashes from our grave
I'll paint you to me
each morning,
and the great pretense continues
as you sing me a smoke-filled
goodbye sonnet,
my eyes still bleeding for the lost.

I like the phrase "Seductiveness of familiar addiction". It's the "I've grown used to you" concept when you think you won't be able to live without something - even if it's hurting you - simply because it's what you've known for so long... ~_~
